Wild Man Troy, I could draw you all day. Hair hair hair hair! I hope that my future jobs will involve me drawing hair.

So I am officially making tattooed dolls, my first crop ever, for the upcoming show Whatever It Takes Carnegie Mellon’s Miller Gallery will be showcasing dedicated Steelers fans — including those who have inked their devotion and pride all over their torsos, their arms, and who knows where else.  It is my task to make some doll versions of the tattooed ones.

Robo-Skeleto-Steeler-Beast? Okay! It was fun to draw him, now I get the teenage boy thing.

How?  That is the question.  I’m starting with handdrawn dolls.  I’m making arm tattoos first — the full torso scenes are a touch too much for me to begin with.  So step one is freehanding the designs, based on photographs, and then I’ll color them up, sew them together, and choose facial expressions and poses down the road.  Stuffed and doll!  Lets hope I can get these three guys done tomorrow…

The Easiest Tattoo of them All, so the one I began with. But a bit boring? I miss skulls, flames and sweat.
